Distribution of Denton's Wealth

Last time, we learned that Denton residents (individuals and families) own just 6.8% of the total appraised mineral value held by all mineral property owners. That’s about $1.68 million.

But how is that money distributed?

There is an extreme concentration of wealth in just a few hands. There are about 600 Denton resident mineral property owners. Just 24 of those families own $1.06 million. That means that just 4% of Denton resident mineral owners hold 63% of this wealth. There are actually just two families that together own 26% of the wealth.
